Vancouver Wall Center & TIR Systems

Vancouver innovative technology lighting up the world*!

Vancouver: Founded in 1982 in Vancouver TIR Systems is the leading edge of optoelectronic technology for lighting, the most significant advancement in lighting since the invention of the light bulb.

TIR has become a world leader in delivering specialty lighting as a result of prism light guide technology developed by University of British Columbia physicist Lorne A. Whitehead.

The 'Light Pipe' is at the forefront of TIR's success. Light Pipes on all three towers of trendy Wall Centre have become its signature on Vancouver's skyline-by-night. The Light Pipes, located at tower pinnacles, are, in this case, 36-foot high, six inch wide tubes each lit by a single 250 watt metal halide bulb. Based on "TIR" or total internal reflection of light beamed from a small bulb down an internally coated tube, the Light Pipes are visible for miles around the city.

Primarily aimed at illuminated masting and spires of significant buildings the first use of the patented technology was in Vancouver's Wall Centre but taken up in new high-profile structures in New York, Frankfurt, Boston, Philadelphia, Hong Kong and other world cities.

the wings

Canada Place is the building with cool white gigant looking kind of wings as the roof. Situated on the Burrard Inlet waterfront of downtown Vancouver. It is the home of the Vancouver Convention & Exhibition Centre, the Pan Pacific Hotel, Vancouver's World Trade Centre, and the world's first permanent IMAX 3D theatre. It is also the main cruise ship terminal for the region, where most of Vancouver's famous cruises to Alaska originate. It was constructed for Expo 86 as the pavilion for Canada and was the only venue for the fair that was not at the main site on the north shore of False Creek. It can be reached via the SkyTrain line at the nearby Waterfront Station terminus. The striking white sails of the building has made it a prominent landmark for the city, as well as drawing comparisons to the Sydney Opera House in Sydney, Australia and the Denver International Airport in Denver, Colorado.
The structure was expanded in 2001 to accommodate another cruise ship berth. As of 2007, construction is under way on a companion building immediately to the northwest which, like Canada Place, is being built over the water and, when complete, will contain additional Convention Centre facilities as well as serve as the international media centre for the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Kids at Sunset Beach

This is a Polaroid I did yesterday at sunset beach. Sx-70 Manipulation.
Kids playing at sunset beach is a regular activity for kinder gardens on the area...there are many adults taking care of them ( I dont show them here) but there is nothing to worry about!! There were so much joy in their laughs while running around with those big logs...was fun to watch on a cold Autumn day.

Vancouver acuatic center.

Vancouver's nine indoor pools are open year-round from early morning to late evening making it easy to fit busy schedules into programs for length swimming, aquafit classes or learn-to-swim lessons and more. Park Board pools are located throughout the City, are readily affordable and accessible to all. Here in Vancouver it is so easy take the plunge and get wet!

I love going every morning to 1050 Beach Avenue where the 50 mt indoor pool of the Vancouver acuatic center is located on the west end, with the following features Diving Board, Diving Tower, Elevator, Family Change Room, Fitness Centre, Flexipass, LAC, Leisure Pool, Rope Swing, Sauna, Whirlpool, Slide, and is all Wheelchair Accessible!!
One place not to be missed on a visit to the west end!

sorry troubles uploading the photo since yesterday...finally here it is
